Skoda will debut fourth-generation Octavia in India on June 10, 2021

The new Skoda Octavia is all set to debut on June 10. The redesigned notchback will have a redesigned base, new drivetrains, and a broader list of standard features than the previous model.

According to the original launch schedule, the fourth-generation Octavia was set to premiere in the final week of April 2021. However, due to global pandemic, Skoda India postponed the launch by a month.

The Skoda Octavia will be accessible via the CKD route, which will come at a cost. Skoda is expected to launch the Onyx and L&K variants alongside the regular car, with price ranging from Rs 18 lakh to Rs 23 lakh (ex-showroom).

The new Skoda Octavia’s interior and exterior

With conventional headlights surrounding the iconic grille and clean lines and creases down the body, the new Octavia looks more like the bigger Superb.

Inside, the interior is expected to be similar to other new-generation Skodas in foreign markets, with a free-standing touchscreen mounted on a shelf above the center console. The Octavia, like the previously announced Kushaq and updated Superb, could also get a two-spoke steering.

The new Skoda Octavia engine specifications

The latest Octavia will be available with just one petrol engine, a 2.0-liter TSI turbo-petrol engine with 190 hp, and a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. Unlike its predecessor, there won’t be a diesel engine available. However, Skoda has hinted to launch a smaller petrol engine later.

Skoda Octavia competitors

In the executive sedan category, the new Octavia will compete with Hyundai’s Elantra. Aside from the Octavia, Skoda plans to debut the all-new Kushaq mid-size SUV in India shortly. The petrol Kodiaq will be launched later this year in India. Before the end of the year, the carmaker is likely to reveal a brand-new mid-size sedan. When it goes on sale in 2022, the new vehicle will replace the aging Skoda Rapid.
